【摘要】:Bariumranksaboutsixthinorderofabundanceinnature;however,itisnormallyfoundinonlytracequantitiesindrinkingwater.Consumption,inhalation,orabsorptionof500to600mgisconsideredfataltohumanbeings.3Lowerlevelsmayresultindisordersoftheheart,bloodvessels,andnerves.Thedrinkingwaterstandardssetthemaximumcontaminantlevelforbariumas2mgbarium/L.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofdissolvedandtotalrecoverablebariuminmostwatersandwastewaters.1.2Thistestmethodwasevaluatedintherangefrom33.5to132g/Lofbarium.Therangecanbeincreasedordecreasedbyvaryingthevolumeofsampleinjectedortheinstrumentalsettings.Highconcentrationsmaybedilutedbutpreferablyshouldbeanalyzedbydirectaspirationatomicabsorptionspectrophotometry.1.3Thistestmethodhasbeenusedsuccessfullywithwastetreatmentplanteffluentwater,lakewater,filteredtapwater,andwellwater.Itistheresponsibilityoftheanalysttodeterminethesuitabilityofthetestmethodforothermatrices.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
